Inauguration of the Fish Research Farm on 08.02.2018
The Fish Research Farm of ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati was inaugurated by Honorable Dr. K. Alagusundaram, Deputy Director General, Agriculture Engineering and Natural Resource Management Divisions at 9.30 AM on 8th February, 2018. This occasion was also graced by the presence of Dr. B. Venkateswarlu, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani, Dr. K. Sammi Reddy, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad. Prof. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director, ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati briefed regarding the fisheries research activities undertaken by the institute. Dr. Alagusundaram visited the Fish Research Farm and was briefed about the fisheries research activities on breeding and larval rearing of air breathing fish Heteropneustes fossils (Shingi), impact of increasing diurnal temperatures on tilapia, Oreochromis mossambicus, rohu Labeo rohita and small indigenous Puntius spp. Dr. Alagusundaram suggested to include research on high demand high value fishes. Dr. M. P. Brahmane, Principal Scientist, Dr. K. K. Krishnani, Principal Scientist, Dr. Neeraj Kumar, Scientist and Mr. M. P. Bhendarkar, Scientist interacted with the dignitaries on this occasion.
