World Soil Day-2016
ICAR-NIASM celebrated World Soil Day at the Institute on the 5th December 2016, where more than 75 farmers from various villages near Baramati, participated in the event. Dr N P Singh, Director, NIASM, gave an overview of importance of soil health cards in ensuring balanced use of fertilizers, enhancing crop productivity along with reduction in cost of cultivation and advised the gathering to popularize the soil health card based farming among all the farmers to improve the production and quality of the produce, in turn uplift the socio-economic status of the farming community. He highlighted the problems and concerns of farmers in the region. He also emphasized that relevant information may be made available in local language of farmers. Dr K K Krishnani, Head-School of Edaphic Stress Management addressed the gathering on the need for soil health assessment, soil test based nutrient recommendations, edaphic stresses and their management through integrated farming and INM. Programme was organized by MGMG team consisting of Dr K K Krishnani, Dr KK Meena, Dr Sachin Pawar, Dr RL Choudhary and Dr Paritosh Kumar under the guidance of Dr N P Singh, Director, ICAR-NIASM. On the same day, Dr. Singh and Dr Krishnani also participated in World Soil Day celebration at KVK-Baramati and addressed the gathering of more than 200 farmers.
