One day farmers training on multifunctional ratoon drill (MRD) machine for ratoon sugarcane management at Sangavi village, Phaltan, Satara
A one day farmers' training cum field demonstration on “Sugarcane ratoon and trash management techniques and machinery use” was held at Sangavi village, Tal-Phaltan, Dist-Satara, on 07 January 2022. The training was organized by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), State Agriculture Department, Maharashtra in collaboration with ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Malegaon, Baramati, and College of Agriculture, Baramati. The main theme of training was to make awareness about the benefits of conservation agriculture (CA) in term of trash management, crop diversification and minimum disturbance in the ratoon sugarcane crop among the sugarcane farmers. ICAR-NIASM scientific team (Dr Vijaysinha Kakade, Mr. Prashant Bhosale) demonstrated the Multifunctional ratoon drill (MRD) machine and explained the importance of MRD machine for implementing the CA principles in ratoon sugarcane farming. More than 60 sugarcane farmers, state officials and entrepreneurs were participated and given thanks to Dr G C Wakchaure, CRPCA team and ICAR-NIASM for developing MRD machines useful for improving yield and productivity of ratoon sugarcane farming.
