Special Swachhta Campaign organized at ICAR-NIASM, Baramati during October 02-31, 2021
As a part of special Swachhta Campaign ICAR-NIASM, Baramati organized various swachhta activities inside and outside campus. On 4th October, 2021indoor cleanliness drive was organized to clean and collect plastic wastes at premises of admin and school buildings. From 5th to 12th October, 2021 uprooted Parthenium and other weeds at campus roads, surroundings of parking area, canteen, admin and school buildings. On 12th October, 2021 organized workshop on “Waste to Wealth” in village Karhavagaj, Baramati (Taluk) as a part of special campaign in villages. Dr. Paritosh Kumar, Scientist (Environmental Science), emphasized to utilize different kinds of waste generated from kitchen/houses, agriculture for preparing compost. Speech competition on “Waste to Wealth” also organized on the occasion of special village Swachhta Campaign. All the participants (74) including ICAR-NIASM staff, dignitaries, and farmers actively participated in cleanliness drive at various places of villages such as temple premises, roads and other common places. As part of on campus cleanliness drive Parthenium and other weeds were removed at animal and CIFS unit on 25th October, 2021. Scraped materials including old drip/broken/ damaged pipes and plastic wastes at IFS unit were collected and stacked for further disposal. On 27th October, 2021 awareness programme and demonstration on ‘Waste water management in agriculture’ was organized at waste water treatment unit. Dr. Paritosh Kumar highlighted the importance of waste water use in agriculture sectors and he also explained and demonstrated different methods of waste water treatment. About 50 participants including scientists, students, and young professionals participated in the event and also cleaned and uprooted Parthenium in guava orchard. On the 31st October, 2021 cleanliness drive cum valedictory function was organized at staff quarters residential complex, MIDC, Baramati. Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director, ICAR-NIASM appreciated the residents and staff for keeping residential complex and its premises neat and clean and suggested to organize at least 3-4 Swachhta campaigns/activities/events yearly at residential complex. All the staff and residents including scientists, students, and young professionals, parents/family members and children participated (50) in the event and cleanliness drive by uprooting Parthenium and also collected plastic wastes.
