The Chief General Manager, NABARD, Maharashtra Regional Office, Pune, Shri. G.S Rawat along with his team of AGM, DGM and DDMs (District Development Managers) visited ICAR-NIASM as part of their exposure visit on 11.3.2022. The visit was aimed towards understanding various technologies related to smart agriculture, Remote sensing technologies in agriculture, Agroforestry system models, aquaculture models and Integrated farming systems. During the interaction meeting held at 2:00 PM in SVP auditorium, Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director, ICAR-NIASM welcomed Shri GS Rawat and gave a detailed presentation on the genesis and development of ICAR-NIASM; the technologies developed by ICAR-NIASM having potential of extended in abiotic stressed areas of Maharashtra and the research activities being carried and planned at ICAR-NIASM. The interaction session between the team of NABARD and Scientist from ICAR-NIASM explored possibilities of collaborative work in the areas of Agroforestry, Geo-spatial data exchange, development activities at Nandurbar District, Climate Smart-Integrated farming Systems (CIFS) and bringing resilience to soybean cotton cropping systems in Vidharba region of Maharashtra, Silage formulations from sugarcane tops in drought stressed areas, and management strategies in salinity stressed sugarcane belt of Kolhapur District of Maharashtra. The interaction meeting was followed by quick visit to the research facilities and experimental plots of ICAR-NIASM. The programme was coordinated by Dr Bhaskar Gaikwad, Mr Ravi Kumar, Dr. Sangram Chavan and Dr DD Nangare under the guidance of Director, NIASM, Baramati.
