One-day Conservation Agriculture Awareness Programme cum Distribution of Inputs to SCSP Beneficiaries
A one-day awareness programme on conservation agriculture, along with the distribution of agricultural inputs and household kits, was organised on 25.03.2026 at ICAR-NIASM under the ICAR-sponsored Consortia Research Platform on Conservation Agriculture (CRPCA) project. Approximately 95 SCSP beneficiaries, including women from farming backgrounds, from the villages of Gunawadi, Katewadi, Kanheri, Pimpali Limtek, and Undewadi in Baramati tehsil participated in the programme. The programme was inaugurated by Dr K. Sammi Reddy, Director of ICAR–National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, who emphasized the importance of conservation agriculture in sugarcane farming. On this occasion, Dr K. K. Pal, Head of the Drought Stress Management Division, was also present. Dr G. C. Wakchaure, PI (CRPCA) and Principal Scientist, provided an overview of the principles of conservation agriculture, including minimum tillage, trash management, and intercropping in sugarcane systems. Further, Dr Paritosh Kumar, Sr. Scientist, highlighted the issues related to trash burning and emphasized integrated residue and nutrient management for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in sugarcane cultivation. Dr Aliza Pradhan, Senior Scientist, discussed the role of conservation agriculture in improving soil health and enhancing productivity in sugarcane cropping systems. Mrs Ashwini Bansode (Deputy Sarpanch, Pimpali) and the beneficiaries appreciated ICAR-NIASM for organizing such a programme. The event was coordinated by Ms Bhumika Banjare and Mr Kunal Shinde, SRFs, under the project.
